EMERGENCY LIGHTING MAINTENANCE
Emergency lighting is required to be tested at regular intervals. This could be as often as every day, or the standard monthly or annual testing as stipulated by regulations BS EN 50172:2004 / BS 5266-8:2004. Spire Security can attend your premises and advise you of a service routine that suits you and your building requirements. This can be annually or more frequently if required.
Emergency lighting can be ‘maintained’, i.e. on all the time, or ‘non-maintained’, i.e. normally off and only operates when the normal lighting fails. Emergency lights should operate for one, two or three hours, depending on the application but in practice most emergency lights are three hour operation. Emergency lights will also provide some use in the premises during a power failure other than an emergency situation.
What Is Emergency Lighting Maintenance?
Whatever type of emergency lighting you already have in place, Spire Security can provide maintenance plans to suit. The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 & BS5266 part 1 – require building owners to test emergency lighting systems regularly and maintain they are in working order. This is something we can help with and dependent on requirements we can set up a maintenance schedule where the system is fully tested on an annual basis. We will also provide a log book whereby all testing carried out by the building owner and us can be recorded.
